Final Task: Evaluation of First draft

Evaluation of First Draft

In the process of making my first draft, I faced many difficulties. Therefore I decide to make this evaluation blog to see what could be improved for next time. My first draft starts straight away, without any introduction, so next time I might put the Netflix logo animation at the beginning, as Netflix is the channel I chose to distribute on. And I also need to think of a more appropriate time and scene to show the audience the name of my documentary.

In this scene, I explain to the audience what social media is. So I wanted my text to be presented to the audience as typed to give them a better sense of social media. But since I don't know how to achieve this, I decide to use PowerPoint. After colouring the slide background green and deciding where to display the text, I record the screen where I'm writing on the slide and then use Premiere Pro to crop the green background to make my text look like it' was typed in the scene. But with the feedback I got, the first problem is that the scene is too long because this whole task requires a maximum of 5 minutes, this opening is already 1 minute long, and the second issue is that the audience can easily finish the reading before the text is shown, so the waiting time is too long and boring for the audience. For my next draft, I am thinking of a solution. I will record my typing on iMessage and also increase the speed of the footage to make sure that too much time isn't wasted at the beginning of the documentary

Another problem is that the introduction is too long, the audience doesn't know what's the point that I'm trying to make, this is due to the introduction is too long, like the scene where I introduce the interviewee, which is also 1 minute long, for the next draft I plan to improve the scene where I introduce the interviewee, I'll just write their name next to it and make my point earlier instead of waiting until the end. The third problem I had is the music. In this task I didn't use background music because I can't find the appropriate music with free copyright, so I need to do more research on music. The last problem I had was the time factor. When I edited my first draft, it took me much more time than I had planned because while I' was editing, I also had to do research to learn how to use certain tools in Premier Pro to get the effect I wanted.
